Tajikistan adopts Russia’s experience in the hospitality industry
Tajikistan’s tourism sector holds immense potential for economic expansion, job generation, and attracting investment. However, one of the key challenges remains the low quality of service in the hospitality industry, largely due to a shortage of qualified personnel, outdated training methodologies, and limited adoption of international standards.
To enhance the skills of hospitality workers, UNDP in Tajikistan engaged three Russian experts to develop recommendations and conduct training sessions on strategic management, human resources management, public relations, and communications, including branding and digital interaction in the hotel business. The trainings were attended by representatives from the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, the Republican Center for Advanced Training of Tourism and Service Workers, as well as representatives from regional hotels, guest houses, and tourism associations.
During the three-day master class in Dushanbe, more than 100 specialists gained practical knowledge and skills in service quality management, digital marketing, and customer relations. The experts prepared valuable training materials and recommendations that facilitate the implementation of international sustainable tourism standards. Particular attention was given to practical tools and platforms for online booking, managing customer feedback, and building a strong brand. The recommendations developed not only contribute to improving workforce qualifications but also enhance the competitiveness of hotels in regional and global tourism markets.
It is expected that the systematic solutions proposed by the experts will lead to increased employment, higher revenues in the tourism sector, and the development of inclusive and sustainable tourism, which in turn will contribute to the diversification of Tajikistan's economy and enhance its attractiveness as a tourist destination.
The work of the Russian experts was implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation within the framework of the project "Knowledge Management and Capacity Development in the UNDP-Russia Partnership".
