The partnership between Russia and UNDP aims to support the global development agenda. Through the Trust Fund, the partnership's financial mechanism, Russia funds more than 70 UNDP projects worth over US$150 million in Armenia, Belarus, Botswana, Cambodia, Cuba, Guinea, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, as well as in the Pacific small island developing states.
Competitively selected Trust Fund projects contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relevant to the social and economic challenges of each country. The Trust Fund has a separate focus on climate change and youth development opportunities: climate change mitigation projects and initiatives that provide systemic solutions for youth development are funded through the Climate and Youth windows.
The partnership between Russia and UNDP also focuses on supporting knowledge sharing at regional and global levels. Since 2016, the regional project Knowledge Management and Capacity Development in the UNDP-Russia Partnership supports the implementation of the partnership and the Trust Fund activities, and promotes Russian expertise and skills for UNDP, including through the Database of Russian Experts for International Development.
