Worldskills Russia held the first Digital Skills Championship in Kyrgyzstan
On 14 November 2021 concluded the first ever Digital Skills Kyrgyzstan 2021 Championship, organized by Worldskills Russia and the Institute of Youth Development of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the 'Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in the framework of the Russia-UNDP partnership' project funded by the government of the Russian Federation.The event was hosted by the Kyrgyz State Technical University and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The three-day Championship brought together college and university students, as well as specialists from the real economy sectors of Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Belarus, to compete in five digital competencies: "Graphic Design", "Software Solutions for Business", "Web Design and Development", "Network and System Administration", and "Mobile Application Development".
The Championship followed a practice-oriented training program, which engaged over 200 Masters and trainers who later acted as the Championship experts. The training and subsequent holding of the Championship was an important first step in shaping professional expert community, which subsequently will introduce the acquired technologies and tools into the training system of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to transform the economy and the labour market.
Bolotbek Kubeshev, the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, delivered closing remarks on the Championship. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the competition and stressed the importance of further development of the WorldSkills movement in the country in partnership with WorldSkills Russia.
Background: The innovative project on digital transformation of the training system in Kyrgyzstan was launched in August 2021 within the framework of the competition " Innovative Solutions in the Development of Vocational Education Systems" and is implemented with the funds allocated by the Government of the Russian Federation.
