Strategic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the UN discussed in New York

A side event at the 2018 High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development was devoted to the cooperation between Russian and UN Agencies for the SDGs. 
In his speech, Mr. Andrey Chibis, Deputy Minister for Construction, Utilities and Housing, noted that Russia’s largest UN development assistance partner is the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). To fund joint initiatives the Russia-UNDP Trust Fund for the Development was established. It supports of the most interested categories of developing countries, including the least developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing states.
Ms. Cihan Sultanoğlu, UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Europe and the CIS, noted that UNDP’s partnership with Russia is strongly aligned with the central ambitions of the 2030 Agenda: leaving no one behind and addressing the disparities within and between countries. UNDP is proud that our joint efforts have already started delivering concrete results on the ground.
