Digital transformation of healthcare system in Kyrgyzstan
In October 2024, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the UN, announced the launch of a healthcare digitalization program, which aims to improve citizens' access to medical information and services through digital technologies. To advance this initiative, UNDP Kyrgyzstan engaged two Russian experts to support digital transformation of the healthcare system and the modernization of the laboratory information system (LIS) iLAB.
During a visit to Bishkek, the experts held consultations with representatives of the Ministry of Health and analyzed the the LIS iLAB’s business processes. The Terms of Reference they developed facilitated the successful IT audit of national health information systems. The task also included updating the LIS iLAB software to ensure its compliance with ISO standards and to facilitate integration with private laboratories. The final stage of the work was the participation of experts in the technical evaluation of tender bids.
The experts’ recommendations and technical assistance contributed to the modernization of the LIS in 60 state laboratories and enhanced the Ministry of Health’s capacity for conducting IT audits.
The work of the Russian experts was implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation within the framework of the project "Knowledge Management and Capacity Development in the UNDP-Russia Partnership".
