Russia-UNDP Trust Fund approved projects for socio-economic recovery after COVID crisis amounting to $13 mln

On 17 September, the Russia-UNDP Trust Fund has approved 9 project proposals out of 15 submitted by Country Offices in Armenia, Belarus, Botswana, Cuba, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Zimbabwe aimed at socio-economic recovery after COVID crisis.

In the CIS region 5 project proposals were approved: the package of 3 interconnected proposals from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on social and economic recovery in Fergana Valley, the project proposal of Armenia on strengthening resilience of rural communities in Ararat, Aragatsotn, Armavir and Kotayk regions and the project proposal coming from Belarus on adaptation of emergency response system to functioning in an unfavorable global epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19’.

In total, $12,8 million would be allocated for the projects later this year once full project documents are approved.

The projects are expected to involve extensive Russian expertise and cooperation with Russian expert institutes.
