Third Russia-UNDP Partnership consultations took place in Moscow
On March 19, 2019, Moscow hosted the third annual consultations on Russia’s partnership with the UNDP under the joint chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A.A. Pankin and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Regional Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
Regular consultations on strategic partnership between Russia and UNDP envisaged by the Framework Agreement of January 23, 2015 are held to discuss the results of joint projects and initiatives, as well as prospects for further cooperation aimed at promoting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Participants listened to the reports on the results of cooperation between Russia and the UNDP in 2017-2018 and discussed prospects for future collaboration. As part of the discussion on the implementation of the partnership “on the ground”, a presentation on the results of UNDP projects in Armenia implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation was held. After the presentation of the report on the long-term development plans for Syria, the participants discussed the possibilities of cooperation between Russia and the UNDP in order to assist in the reconstruction of this country.
The consultations confirmed the significant role of the partnership in promoting international development and mutual interests of the parties in its further implementation.
Representatives of key ministries, departments, as well as a number of academic circles involved in the implementation of the partnership attended the event.
