Russian expert contributes to improving the quality of statistical data of Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan strives to improve the quality of statistical data provision, in particular, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan (Turkmenstat) works hard to bring the available data in line with international standards, namely, in accordance with the 2008 SNA, which was recognized by the Statistical Commission as the main global standard in the field of statistics in 2008.
On November 24, 2020, UNDP office in Turkmenistan held an online round table to discuss the development of an asset-liability balance in line with the 2008 SNA. The meeting was attended by a Russian expert who presented the participants with a report on the main changes and modifications in asset and liability valuation between the 1993 SNA and 2008 SNA, shared international best practices in asset and liability balance formation under the 2008 SNA, and made recommendations on how to calculate them.
About 20 leading specialists from the State Statistics Committee, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan took part in the discussion of the report. The attendees noted the high level of preparation of the report presented by the Russian expert.
The assignment of the Russian expert was carried out under the 'Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in UNDP-Russia Partnership' project.
