Having recently ratified the Paris Agreement, Kyrgyzstan has placed low-carbon development and energy efficiency at the forefront of the Green Economy efforts. To fulfill the country’s commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions Kyrgyzstan paves the way to transition to green and low carbon development by introducing new ecology-oriented technologies, attracting investments for energy saving and revising existing practices of energy consumption.

Currently there are more than 2200 secondary schools across the country that use low-efficient lighting and coal-heating systems, which is a huge opportunity for introducing energy saving system and eventually reduce pollution. These recommendations on energy efficient solutions for modernization of lighting and/or heating system in public school buildings and a partnership scheme for implementation of a pilot project were elaborated by the Russian expert.

The work of the Russian expert is implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation within the framework of the project "Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in the UNDP-Russia Partnership".
