Russian expert supports reforestation efforts in Armenia
The Government of Armenia has undertaken the obligation to increase the national forest cover from the current 11,2% to the optimal 20,1% by 2050. This ambitious programme which well suits to NDC’s and the country’s obligations under the Paris Climatic Agreement, requires serious professional and on-ground experience.
Russian expert supported the efforts of Armenia government in preparation, transportation, and planting of a large number of seedlings and drafted a Regulation on Reforestation and Afforestation of the forest fund of the Republic of Armenia. The results of the work and developed documents were highly appreciated by the Ministry of Environment.
The work of the Russian expert was implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation within the framework of the project "Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in the UNDP-Russia Partnership".
