Russian experts contribute to improving human rights education in Uzbekistan

Российские эксперты способствуют улучшению образования в области прав человека в Узбекистане

Uzbekistan struggles to strengthen the capacities of national institutions on human rights and the rule of law to effectively implement the recommendations of UN Charter-based and Treaty Bodies in accordance with Uzbekistan's international legal obligations in the field of human rights.

To achieve this goal civil servants need to be have a proper training system to ensure the human rights compliance in Uzbekistan. For this purpose the development and introduction of an online human rights course through needs assessment was required.

CO-chairman of the NGO “Human being and Law” and expert of the Human Rights Movement jointly elaborated and presented an on-line course on human rights covering legislation and protection mechanisms for human rights in Uzbekistan, standards of the UN system in close relation to the participation of Uzbekistan in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

During the discussion of the course, the government officials noted that the course elaborated by the experts is very useful for improving human rights education in the Republic.

The expert assignment is implemented within the framework of the project "Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in the UNDP-Russia Partnership".
