Russian experts shared knowledge on public-private partnership mechanisms to finance sustainable development projects in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan seeks to expand public-private partnerships for joint implementation of the country's social and economic development programme for 2019-2025, which requires the preparation of a law on public-private partnerships based on existing international best practices.
On February,16 Russian experts in public-private partnership conducted a webinar on "Application of public-private partnership mechanisms to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals". Russian experts from Moscow Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) as well as experts of National PPP Center of the Russian Federation, State Development Corporation "VEB.RF" provided an overview of modern mechanisms for financing Sustainable Development Goals, including possibilities of using public-private partnership mechanisms, international experience in implementing quality infrastructure investment principles, development of legislation and best practices.
Russian specialists also spoke about best practices and specifics of preparation and implementation of PPP projects in various sectors of the economy that would enable Turkmenistan to create a sustainable platform for long-term government-business cooperation.
Representatives of Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Central Bank of Turkmenistan, State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics and other departments of the country responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and involved in the process of SDG financing took part in the event.
