Russia allocated $5.8 million to UNDP for reconstruction of Syria

On 14 December 2019 the Government of the Russian Federation issued the Resolution on allocation of $5.8 million to the United Nations Development Programme for the project implementation aiming to assist municipalities of the most affected provinces of the Syrian Arab Republic. The project will contribute to the restoration of infrastructure in large cities and towns, which were destroyed by 40-70% as a result of the war.

With the same Resolution the Government of the Russian Federation also allocated $5 million to the United Nations Children's Fund, $3 million to the World Health Organization and $3 million to the United Nations Population Fund for the comprehensive reconstruction of the education and health care systems.

The decisions were made in order to ensure Russia's participation in international efforts to rebuild Syria.
