Russia helps to equip the Cultural Educational Center under the Dushanbe Eparchy
On March 12, 2020 UNDP and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan handed over equipment and training materials to the Slavonic cultural and educational center in Dushanbe. This was made possible thanks to the project "Equipping the Cultural Educational Center under the Dushanbe Eparchy", implemented by UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic with the financial support of the Russian Federation.
The center received mini-express laboratories for courses in robotics and other disciplines, tablet computers for coworking, a multimedia tribune for presentations, Full HD interactive panels, as well as training kits for environmental research and practical study of scientific topics, and much more.
Thanks to modern equipment, the cultural and educational center will be able to provide high quality education and development opportunities not only for young people in Tajikistan, but also for the older generation, as well as for vulnerable groups of the population who previously had no access to education.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov, UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan Mrs. Pratibha Mehta, and other representatives of UNDP and the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Head of pre-school and school education department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan Muhiddinzoda Kutbiddin Fozildin, Bishop of Dushanbe and Tajikistan Pavel attended the ceremony.
The contribution of the Russian Federation to the development of the Republic of Tajikistan through the projects, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Tajikistan since 2014, amounts to about USD 15 million. Currently, five projects aimed at addressing socio-economic and climate issues are implemented in Tajikistan.
