Accession to the WTO is one of the key priorities of Belarus' foreign trade policy, which helps ensure stable and predictable terms of trade with the international community.

The UNDP project "Assisting the Government of the Republic of Belarus in accession to the WTO through strengthening national institutional capacity and expertise" is implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation. and supports the Republic's national negotiating team in the negotiation process, namely the formation of final commitments to the WTO. Another important aspect of this support has been the development and publication of a WTO Glossary of Terms, which contains over 300 international trade and trade policy terms used in the work of the WTO. The publication is available in three languages: English, Belarusian and Russian.

On 21 April 2021 the project launched the information campaign "WTO Week in the Republic of Belarus 2021" and a series of regional round tables with the participation of representatives of the business community to discuss the accession of Belarus to the WTO. The campaign will cover the entire territory of Belarus, and local business representatives will have an opportunity to learn about the dynamics of the country's accession to the WTO and the benefits of WTO membership for the country's business. Participants will have opportunity to discuss practical issues related to promotion of Belarusian goods and services in foreign markets under WTO accession and participate in consultations with experts in international trade policy.
