UNDP participated in the first Ecumene 2021 Congress on sustainable development

On September 30, 2021 Suren Poghosyan, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Finance Advisor at the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub for Europe and the CIS, took part in the thematic session "Present and Future of Sustainable Finance Regulations" within the framework of the first Ecumene 2021 Congress on sustainable development dedicated to responsible financing.
In his speech, Mr. Poghosyan highlighted a number of modern approaches to financing sustainable development. Referring to complex national funding mechanisms, the development and implementation of which is promoted by UNDP, Mr. Poghosyan noted the growing need for synergy between government regulators and private companies in their aspirations towards the achievement of the SDGs and outlined the main stages of such interaction, including timely information, strengthening the coordinative role of the regulator and the implementation of regulatory mechanisms.
“Complex mechanisms are becoming a new philosophy of managing various processes, including sustainable development in different countries, when the role of various factors and of the state in particular should be synchronized and synergistic,” concluded Suren Poghosyan.
The International Ecumene 2021 Congress on sustainable development is held in Moscow for the first time with the support of UN organizations, including UNDP and UNEP, All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation, Gazprombank, Sberbank, WWF, Bank of Russia, MGIMO and other organizations.
