20 November 2019
On November 14, 2019, the Entrepreneurship Support Centre and StartUp business incubator were inaugurated in Gorki, Minsk Region. The Center hosts a co-working area for events and startup schools for young people, entrepreneurs and those who would like to realize themselves in business.
The Entrepreneurship Support Centre was established thanks to the project "Promotion of Employment and Self-Employment in Small and Medium-sized Towns of Belarus", implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of Belarus with the financial support of the Russian Federation. Its aim is to stimulate entrepreneurial initiative, develop and support new forms of business ideas.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus Dmitry Matusevich, the most important element of the state support of entrepreneurship is infrastructure. Deputy Minister expressed hope that the Center would provide the necessary support to the students of the Belarusian Agricultural Academy, which is located in the town of Gorki. It is planned that the students of the Academy will not only use the services of the business incubator, but also participate directly in the development of business in the town and the region. UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Alexandra Solovieva focused on regional development, creation of additional growth points for investment, the role of youth and women's entrepreneurship in achieving sustainable development goals.
The event was also attended by Dmitry Bulgakov, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus, Pavel Marinenko, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Economy of the Regional Executive Committee, Irina Sukhubaevskaya, Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, and Andrei Timayev, Director of LLC "Technopark Gorki", representative of the Partnership Support Office in Russia Natalia Voronkova.
