Monitoring mission of Russian Government representatives to Kyrgyzstan
From June 1 to 5, 2026, a delegation representing the Steering Committee of the Russia-UNDP Trust Fund for Development visited Kyrgyzstan. The delegation consisted of representatives of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Finance, and Permanent Mission to the UN. The visit focused on monitoring projects funded by the Russian Federation in areas such as digital skills, youth entrepreneurship, environmental education, and socio-economic development at the regional level.
The delegation traveled to Bishkek, Osh, and Manas, as well as project sites in the Jalal-Abad and Osh regions. In Bishkek, the mission visited a secondary school to see the "Climate Box" project in action. In Osh and Manas, opening ceremonies were held for youth centers established with financial support from the Russian Federation. During a meeting with the leadership of Osh Technological University, discussions covered the introduction of new IT education standards, following a visit to a local IT hub. The delegation also toured various business initiatives, including a sewing academy, an art studio, a healthy dessert production facility – all supported by a project focused on socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the guests reviewed local efforts to reduce disaster risks and provide safe electricity in rural areas.
The visit also included meetings at the UNDP office in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, as well as with representatives of the Public-Private Partnership Center and the Secretariat of the National Council for Business and Investment Development. Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan took part in the mission too.
