Expert seminar for supporting volunteer development in CIS countries took place in Kyrgyzstan

Expert seminar “Sharing experience and learning best practices to support volunteer development in CIS countries” took place on 8th and 9th of December in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The purpose of the seminar was to contribute to sharing of Russian expertise and knowledge in creating volunteer infrastructure to ensure more significant impact of volunteers on socio-economic development in CIS countries, discussing possible joint initiatives and projects. Volunteers and volunteer coordinators from Kyrgyz volunteer organizations took part in the seminar, as well as representatives of volunteer movement from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. During the seminar a number of important topics for volunteer movement were discussed, such as approaches to supporting volunteer initiatives in CIS, corporate volunteering and pro bono projects, implementation of large scale volunteer events, with World Festival of Youth and Students 2017 as an example. Participants also discussed road map for implementation of the Concept for cooperation for development of youth volunteer movement in CIS countries.
During the seminar, a training on developing a project was held for Kyrgyz volunteers. Participants successfully created and presented 4 projects, and received recommendations for their implementation and feedback from seminar experts. 
Seminar was held with support of the reginal project “Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in Russia-UNDP Partnership, Phase I (2016-2018)”, financed by Russia-UNDP Trust Fund for Development and UN Volunteers programme.
