Association of Clusters, Technology Parks and SEZ of Russia Enhances Investment Potential of Free Economic Zones in Tajikistan
The Association of Clusters, Technology Parks and SEZ of Russia works together with the business community in Tajikistan to enhance the potential of Free Economic Zones (FEZs) and attract investment to the Republic's FEZs. During the assignment, Russian experts conducted an analysis of the Republic's industries, developed a functional map of key industries and enterprises, outlined the advantages of doing business in Tajikistan's FEZ and prepared investment proposals for potential investors in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the FEZ administration.
On September 29, 2021 the Russian experts from the Association started their visit to the Republic, held meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, as well as with the heads of the FEZ administrations.
On the first day of the visit a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Solehzoda Ashurboy Abdulvahid and Director of the Association of Clusters, Technology Parks and SEZ of Russia Mr. Andrey Shpilenko. The meeting outlined objectives and prospects for joint cooperation in the field of industrial policy, and discussed investment proposals of the Association, in particular, the creation of a pharmaceutical technology park worth $53,776 with a payback period of up to eight years.
On October 1, 2021 a Round table was held in Dushanbe, where the best practices in the development of innovation and technological infrastructure were presented. The event was attended by representatives of the authorities of the Republic in the field of health, industry and new technologies, economic development and trade, members of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, experts of specialized international organizations, heads of Russian technology parks and special economic zones (SEZ), UNDP Resident Representative Pratibha Mehta and Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan Evgeny Korenkov. The Round table discussed communication with investors, investment niches in potential clusters in the Republic, as well as taxation issues in SEZs. At the end of the round table, the experts visited the Dushanbe Industrial Park, Gayur Enterprise Group Park, and Siyoma LLC.
During the visit of AKIT RF delegation to Tajikistan it is planned to sign cooperation memorandums between AKIT RF and FEZ "Dangara", FEZ "Kulyab", FEZ "Sughd".
It is expected that the Association's business mission will strengthen the investment potential of Tajikistan's FEZ, while the positive experience gained can be used to establish FEZs in other CIS countries.
