Russian expert helps to increase investment potential of Kyrgyzstan

Since Kyrgyzstan became a member of the Eurasian Economic Union it has sought to improve its trade potential and boost regional economic integration by analyzing investments regulatory base and supporting the State Investments Promotion and Protection Agency in preparation of region-specific investment guide in order to identify and promote specific location’s and specific industry’s strengths and advantages for attraction of foreign direct investments and thus promotion of export including sectors with gender specific activities.

Based on the analysis of current trends and legislation of Kyrgyz Republic in investments the President of the International Investment Center assisted in updating of region-specific investment Guide. The expert concluded that structural changes in the economy of Kyrgyzstan in recent years: a decrease in the share of agriculture, a slight increase in the share of industry and a significant increase in the share of services might require both political decision and legislative management of emerging issues, as well as efforts towards sustainable economy both from the state and from civil society.

The expert also conducted a 2-day workshop for APPI staff and representatives of other Trade Support Institutions. As a result of the training, 15 representatives of the staff of APPI and Ministry of Economy of KR gained practical knowledge about the best practices and methodologies for business matching. The training presented international experience for the preparation of investment guides, its layout and content of the publication, supporting entrepreneurs for internationalization.
