Russia supports the development of Osh oblast of Kyrgyzstan - Sustainable results
Economic and political tensions, low level of trust in local authorities, inefficient use of natural resources, lack of water and land, as well as limited access to pasture for livestock are factors that have inherently contributed to socio-economic tensions and have often led to conflicts among local people in Osh province in Kyrgyzstan.
In 2016, the Russia-UNDP Trust Fund for Development launched a three-year Integrated Osh area-based development programme aimed at creating conditions for conflict prevention, developing various economic activities, creating new jobs, improving access to water, ensuring environmental security and rebuilding socio-economic infrastructure, and reducing the short- and long-term vulnerability of target groups.
