Russia and UN presented 8 joint development projects
On January 17 a special event was held at the United Nations dedicated to the launch of 8 Russia-sponsored development assistance projects in Belarus, DPRK, Syria, and Tajikistan.
Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya opened the event and noted that the launched projects are aimed at building capacity for sustainable economic development.
The speakers of the event, including heads of the UN executive agencies - United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), WHO New York Office, as well as representatives of these countries at the UN, exchanged views on the impact of the launched projects on the socio-economic development of partner countries and discussed plans for further cooperation.
The heads of UN agencies stressed the significantly grown scope of cooperation with Russia and expressed hope that the trend would continue. Partner countries representatives thanked for the development assistance which is aimed at long-term solutions and is meeting the interests of ordinary people. They also assured of their support to Russian approaches to international cooperation for the benefit of sustainable development.
