Registration open for the course on the design of National Multidimensional Poverty Index
COVID pandemic reminded us of the multi-dimensional nature of poverty, and the need of designing more comprehensive metrics to capture multiple deprivations faced by the poor. Multidimensional poverty Index (MPI) is one of most useful policy tool that can allow us to monitor, analyze and report progress in reducing poverty in all its forms at national and local level
Building on the long-standing partnership, UNDP and OPHI will jointly deliver a FREE seven-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Designing a Multidimensional Poverty Index" from 14 March 2022 to 29 April 2022.
This is the third iteration of the MOOC, and in addition to equipping the participants with the technical knowledge on how to build and analyze National MPIs, this edition will also provide an expanded library of case studies outlining the use of the MPIs in the context of COVID-19 recovery.
For the first time the course will be facilitated in English, French, Spanish, and Russian languages.
The course aims to at building in-house capacity of our staff in particular our Human Development (HD) and MPI focal points, but it is also open to technicians, statisticians from national agencies and policymakers, academia, think tanks and UN staff who are engaged in developing and using national and subnational MPIs, and we encourage you to disseminate this message as widely as possible.
All participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate.
